Today,
more than ever, it is easy to become a published author. A growing
number of individuals and institutions are seeking specialty publishers
as an alternative to get their books published professionally.
A cooperative
publisher charges an author a reasonable fee to edit, design and
print a specific number of books from a manuscript.
From
the income arising from this cooperative venture, promotional marketing,
warehousing and administrative services will be accounted for and
you will receive the full balance, which typically is double the
amount of a regular royalty.
You
may also decide to have the books printed and sell them yourself.
Laredo
is primarily a publishing team, an intermediary between the author's
manuscript and the edited book, the author's ideas and the illustrator's
creativity, the author's future book and the printer, the author's
printed book and the public. Our objective as much as yours is to
create a product that we can be proud of and that will be successful.
The measure of its success is the profit that is generated. That
is the emphasis of our relationship with you and the public. This
chart demonstrates how we work:
The
result of our close partnership is a finished product that we can
be proud to share with the public and from which you will derive
a return on your investment.
The
potential for success and profit making has no limits. At least
we aim for it.
With
proper design, production costs, print order and a reasonable marketing
effort we have found that many of our authors break even and some
make a profit on their first edition. Of course the profits multiply
rapidly on a second and third editon, once the original fixed costs
of editing and printing plates have been amortized.
